Product designer Kristina Meyer from byform: Recycled DURAT is bringing greater sustainability to the furniture and kitchen industries

Interzum 2025 exhibition in Cologne will showcase pioneering innovations, technological advances and sustainable material concepts under the guiding theme ‘Rethinking Resources: Circular and Biobased Solutions’.

Durat kitchen countertop and sink are on show at the design studio byform stand, where they are looking at how to make more environmentally friendly choices in kitchen implementation.

“At the Function and Component special exhibition, we are showcasing innovations and new developments in furniture and kitchen fittings. Under the motto “Rethinkitchen”, we are presenting a forward-thinking kitchen concept focused on sustainability and CO₂ reduction, says product designer Kristina Meyer from byform.

“Such a concept requires not only structural innovation but also the use of advanced, environmentally responsible materials. We aim to demonstrate that kitchens and furniture will fundamentally evolve in the future — and that we must rethink how we design them to successfully transition toward a circular economy.”

“At the same time, materials like those from DURAT offer fresh aesthetic possibilities and help define the design language of tomorrow. That's why materials like DURAT's are essential to bringing greater sustainability to the furniture and kitchen industries,” Kristina Meyer explains.

Durat is also on show at the joint stand of KCL and Filamental where they under the theme "Rethink Furniture with New Technology" presents the latest addition to the KCL Formi™ 3D printing materials  product line. The leg structure of the table designed by Filamental is 3D printable from a new KCL Formi™ 3D Iconic Black material. Durat Palace material has been chosen for the table top.

To promote local manufacturing and the flat pack concept, Filamental will be giving away files for the furniture, printing instructions, and a list of "Where to Buy Network," through which the furnitures can be ordered.
